![]() ![]() and the great Buddy Rich, who endorsed other brands but favored a Fibes. My guest is Major Kevin John Simon who is the founder of the very successful Mitch Mitchell Fan Club. In the early 70s, Fibes Crystalite sets were the first acrylic drums to win. This is an amazingly in-depth look at the life of one of the most swinging rock drummers that ever sat behind the kit. The set was stored at Hulsey’s home until 1983 when Hulsey took the set to Mel Zelnick’s Drum shop to be sold. ![]() At this point, West Coast Slingerland sales rep Phil Hulsey was dispatched to NBC to retrieve the set. Mitch Mitchell was a successful child star on BBC before he ever became a drummer, then he changed gears to become a drummer full time and had a gold record with Jimi Hendrix by the time he was 20. Rich played this set on the Tonight Show up until 1977 when he left Slingerland to endorse Ludwig drums. ![]()
